Working On The “Property Brothers” TV Show + Meeting The Brothers

By Blog
Hey it's Chloé

Behind the Creativity: Blog 7

Have you ever watched a Property Brothers episode and noticed the cool before and after transitioning scenes? The ones where Jonathan and Drew Scott, a.k.a The Property Brothers, describe how the home will look like after the renovations are complete and while they are doing so, 3D objects are flying all over the place to exemplify how the final stage will look like. Well if you’ve ever wondered just how it is done or who is behind that little chunk of magic, look no further

QUICK OVERVIEW

NEEZO Studios has been a part of the Property Brothers development team ever since the first episode aired back in 2011. The furniture and accessories flythrough scenes that NEEZO creates for every Property Brothers show is a really cool process that takes a lot of in-studio designing and techniques to be able to complete.

In my opinion, I think it’s really useful to have the actual visual representation of the transition displayed near the beginning of the episode to show viewers what the brothers have in mind. Wouldn’t you agree?

Over the years and as the Property Brothers show has continued to excel, the brothers came up with a few more show concepts that NEEZO has also been able to take part in.

SHOWS THAT NEEZO STUDIOS HAS WORKED ON FOR THE PROPERTY BROTHERS

The original Property Brothers TV show first aired in 2011. Since the first episode, NEEZO Studios has been a part of each of their 7 seasons totaling OVER a hundred episodes (and counting). These episodes air on HGTV and HGTV Canada.

In 2013, just 2 years after the first Property Brothers episode was aired, Brother Vs. Brother was created. Just like with the Property Brothers show, NEEZO creates the ultimate visual tool to help viewers get a sense of what each person’s final goal is and what they hope to create in that specific episode.

NEEZO also worked on other cool shows for the brothers such as Property Brothers at Home -Drew’s Honeymoon house   and Brothers Take on New Orleans.

It’s always so exciting to be able to watch a PB episode on TV and spot work that was created by NEEZO. A lot of time and effort goes into creating every animation for every episode, so to see our work being displayed in front of a large audience globally on some very cool shows is such a fulfilling feeling.

MEETING THE PROPERTY BROTHERS + STORY BEHIND THIS SELFIE

Every time I see the Scott Brothers, they are always willing to take some pictures with me and have a small chat just to catch up on things. They are genuinely very nice guys!

Below are couple of pictures that we took throughout the years with the brothers at Producer’s Ball during TIFF hosted by Jonathan and Drew.  The events were super fun!

Goodbye 2018, Hello 2019!

By Blog
Hey it's Chloé

Behind the Creativity: Blog 6

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I can’t believe how quickly 2018 flew by. Although it seemed very short, 2018 was a very eventful year. Before we move further into 2019, I wanted the first blog of this year to be about some of my favourite memories from 2018 and also what NEEZO Studios has in store for 2019.

2019 SILVER NATIONALS AWARD
In late November, we were so thrilled to find out that NEEZO has been awarded with a Silver award for The Nationals. Winning the Silver award is a great accomplishment in itself, but what is even more exciting is the fact that  NEEZO is automatically nominated for the Gold awards which will be held in Las Vegas this February during the International Builders Show. (See below for more details about NEEZO exhibiting at IBS).

STARTING “LIFE BEHIND THE CREATIVITY”
I love writing. Whether it be poems, essays, songs, or even novels, it’s a passion of mine. Having the privilege to write a weekly blog for NEEZO is an awesome opportunity that I’m thankful to have been given. I want to thank you for joining me along the ride and reading my blogs. Much more to come ?Your continued support means a lot!

GETTING OUR STUDIO MASCOT, DAKOTA
If you’ve read blog 4, you’d know that my adorable puppy, Dakota, is also the studio mascot. Although we’ve only had her since late November of 2018, she’s already brought so much more energy and fun to the studio. Other than playing ping pong, video games, foosball or even air hockey, the team also enjoys playing with Dakota as a fun pastime during their breaks.

HELLO 2019!!

It’s always a blessing to get through another year. Although 2018 was a good ride, 2019 is going to be awesome not only for myself, but for each of you reading this blog. Being positive and always hopeful will always benefit you. If you want 2019 to be YOUR year, then do all it takes to follow through with your goals.

I want to announce here as well that NEEZO Studios will be attending this year’s International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas this February. Our booth is SU813, stop by and say hi if you are attending. We’re all so excited to be going to the show once again and to be nominated for an award at the Nationals. More details to come once the date of the show gets closer?

Thank you again for the support that you’ve given me since my first blog in 2018. It means a lot and I can’t wait to write more about life behind the creativity at NEEZO Studios this year.

Reacting to NEEZO’s Tuscaloosa Animation

By Blog
Hey it's Chloé

Behind the Creativity: Blog 5

Located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, right beside the University of Alabama’s Bryant-Denny football stadium, the WestGate Luxury Condominiums will be built to offer Alabama fans and students the opportunity to live close to their school campus and right across from the stadium where their favorite team plays.
To showcase the location of the condo unit to the stadium, NEEZO Studios did what it does best by creating this cool animation that portrays the uniqueness of this project.
After personally visiting Alabama and specifically the University of Alabama, I think it would be cool to almost “react” or tell you how NEEZO’s magical animations really bring every project to life, including this one.

PROCESS OF CREATING THE ANIMATION
To start off the entire process of creating the animation, NEEZO went over all the project details with the client, Spectrum Capital. Some of these details included the feel, look and style the client is after and of course, like every project, we needed CAD files and drawings in order to accurately portray the building when we build it in 3D. After all of the information was disclosed, the team commenced with the process of creating the animation.
When starting a new project, specifically a detailed animation, one important consideration is at the forefront: how do we work together to ensure that we are conveying the client’s vision using the technology at our disposal to encapsulate a community’s essence? Going into this project, NEEZO Studios knew one thing: Tuscaloosa is a football town and WestGate was planned with that in mind.
Keeping the community’s passion for football in mind, we started scripting and storyboarding how we wanted the full animation to play out, planning out every aspect in order to complete our final task.
From there, we took footage of players on the field and our team headed to Tuscaloosa to take a better look at the Bryant-Denny Stadium, the direct neighbour to WestGate. We had drones capture location-based footage that showcased not only the vastness of the landscape, but the grandeur of the stadium beside it.
Back in the studio, we got to work on animating by using our best technology to develop 3D animations of Spectrum Capital’s floor plans and design specs which were then sequenced with the camera footage, and archived football footage, to bring the WestGate vision to life.

SEEING IT BEING BUILT IN PERSON
This past summer, I visited Alabama and passed by the lot where the WestGate condominiums were going to be built. Honestly, it’s super fascinating to be able to see how the animation started from day 1 in our studio up until the day when I watched the final version. It’s even more fascinating to compare the animation to the actual real-life version when both are complete.

HOW ANIMATIONS ALLOW FUTURE BUYERS TO EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC BEFORE THEY GET THERE
Two of the many things that NEEZO specializes in is animations and photorealistic renderings. What I’ve learned over the years is that animations, in particular, allow future builders/developers and potential buyers the opportunity to experience the atmosphere and area surrounding the building space without actually being there to see it in person.
NEEZO takes pride in ensuring that every builder/developer’s vision will be brought to life through any work that we do. Every creative possibility is established by the very first phase and meeting, just like it was with our client, Spectrum Capital, for this Tuscaloosa project.

The Best of all Worlds

By Blog
Hey it's Chloé

Behind the Creativity: Blog 3

Sometimes it’s tough to find a wide variety of services that can all be found around the same vicinity or even under one roof. Moreover, it can be challenging to explain your vision to someone who may not see it quite like you do. However, when you do find what you’re looking for, the journey to your final product seems so much easier.

For this week’s blog, I’d like to share with you a little bit about how our studio can provide you with the best of all worlds and how everything we do in our studio is under one roof and done in-house completely.

As you know by now, NEEZO Studios specializes in creating animations, renderings, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive applications, motion graphics, configurators and much more. However, what I haven’t shared with you is the fact that NEEZO’s sister company, Xortus, is also in-house and sharing the same studio as NEEZO. Not only does this bring together the NEEZO and Xortus teams to unite as one big family, it also allows both companies to provide more diverse services that no other company can, that is of course under one roof.

Xortus specializes in creating architectural scale models, 3D prototypes, and laser cutting and engraving. (If you’re not well aware of what a scale model is, basically it is a miniature physical representation of a product or development).

As you can see above in the picture, NEEZO Studios and Xortus are able to come together and incorporate their services to make the most diverse final product. By tying interactive lights and augmented reality from NEEZO with the scale model produced by Xortus, the final outcome can be brought to life physically and virtually.

To be honest, it can be difficult for a client to have to work with many companies in order to achieve their final vision. That’s where we come in. NEEZO and Xortus may have two different names, but the ultimate final goal is achieved by one team, one ownership, under one studio. We want to ensure clients that our studio is a one-stop shop that really aims to bring their vision to life in the coolest way possible!

BTS of NEEZO Studios’ Producers Ball Animation

By Blog
Hey it's Chloé

Behind the Creativity: Blog 2

It’s crazy to think that worlds and universes can be realistically created solely through computer graphics. Especially within the film industry, new methods are always being curated to thoroughly develop unimaginable worlds. Back in 2015, I had the super cool opportunity to be a part of something that involved building a world completely through technology. This cool project was NEEZO Studios’ 2015 Producer’s Ball Animation during the Toronto International Film Festival.

For this week’s blog, I wanted to tell you all about the process of making this super cool animation and how NEEZO Studios transformed it into the magical animation that you can watch above?

To create the entire setting, the NEEZO team set up the green studio with our lights and cameras and started filming. The process where we were acting in the green room took about 3 days and that consisted of shooting multiple takes in order to get the perfect shots and angles. In order to get all of the proper angles and shots, the team set up a bunch of markers around the studio so that they would be able to refer to every point on the greenscreen while creating the final animation.

Once the acting phase was all finished, the team started to model everything so that they could drop us into the 3D world. By doing so, the team had to mix what was real into a fake digital setting by incorporating the two to create the final animation. After this process was completed, the team keyed the footage and motion tracked us into the rendered environment. Then the audio was added. So, things like sound effects and music were mixed into the animation in order to complete the final video.

When I was allowed to see the final cut of the video, I was in awe of how amazingly realistic it all looked. To see what the final animation looked like compared to the first phase of the project when I was acting on the green screen was truly incredible because the NEEZO team made something out of nothing. It was very cool to see the animation being played on the big screen throughout the entire Producer’s Ball party. This whole process of filming, modeling, tracking, and editing really made me get an understanding of how much hard work and time goes into creating what seems like a simple 90 second video to others. The NEEZO team really emphasized the fact that everything starts with a great idea, but it takes an amazing team to make the idea a reality.
